The food pantry at the House of the Carpenter is one of our longest standing and largest Ministries of Mercy. More than 500 families a month come to the food pantry for assistance. The pantry is arranged in a way that allows a “shopping” style experience. This way people are able to select foods they or their family will eat.
The pantry is stocked with a variety of canned and dry goods, as well as fresh produce, dairy products, and meat, when available. The food comes to us in a variety of ways. Much of our produce is purchased from Jebbia’s Fruit Market. We receive regular donations from Kroger and Wal-Mart. The pantry is otherwise stocked by food drives performed by Scout Troops, churches, and other civic groups. The remaining necessary items are purchased from Riesbeck’s Food Market and the Mountaineer Food Bank.
