The House of the Carpenter, Inc. is a faith-based ministry organized to meet the needs of people who are poor, elderly, disabled, abused, neglected, alone, hurting, and disadvantaged. Our emergency services program addresses food, clothing, utility payments, prescriptions, and other critical needs. Our long-term action ministries are designed to address root causes of hunger, malnutrition, unemployment, and educational deficiencies.

A gift of cash will help us buy food to supplement donated food items for a food package for an elderly person or a family in need.  We are providing food assistance for an average of 850 different families each month.  Half the people we serve are young children. We can really stretch and multiply the donated dollar!

BULK FOOD ORDER
A full bulk food order of multiple cases of green beans, corn, pork ‘n’ beans, peas, apple sauce, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, toilet paper, and soap costs us on average $739.60. These bulk orders of food are divided and added to donated food items to assure that we can provide  well-rounded food packages for needy families.  Our bulk orders are nicely discounted!

Our budget only allows $12,000 annually for utility payments and prescription help for families in need.  We are able to help 50 different families each month with $20.00 payments.  We could use 10 times this amount!

CHRISTMAS FOR TEENAGERS
A gift of $100 will provide an article of new clothing and other items for a teenage girl or boy. We usually receive enough donations of items  for small children for Christmas, and we need help to remember older children.  Particularly, we need  help in providing for the “tweenagers” between ages 11 and 14.

OUR NEW BUILDING
We are quite excited about getting our new building completed so it can provide numerous programs to meet needs of people who turn to us.  We need several items to finish the building.

1. Window Treatments
Curtains are needed throughout the building. A gift of $300 will take care of curtains, mounting brackets, and rods for an office.

Floor covering is needed throughout the second and third floors.  A gift of $375 will take care of a room.  Other needs include $1,900 for the conference room/chapel and $4,200 for the corridors, reception area, and work room.
